Greetings. The build fails on this computer, a Mac OS 10.11.5 machine with
Xcode, which provides /usr/bin/clang++ and /usr/bin/gcc or g++ as follows

$ clang++ --version
Apple LLVM version 7.3.0 (clang-703.0.31)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin15.5.0
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin
$ gcc --version
Configured with: --prefix=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2.1
Apple LLVM version 7.3.0 (clang-703.0.31)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin15.5.0
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin
$ type gcc
gcc is a tracked alias for /usr/bin/gcc
$

From homebrew, I have gcc-6 and g++-6 installed, and by hand-editing setup.py I can add g++-6
to the list of C++ compilers, and the build runs OK (with some warnings).

Not sure why the build does not succeed with clang++ but thought you should know.
