Dear Palladio developers,

please safe the date for the Symposium on Software Performance 2013 in
your calendars and consider contributing to the programme in the various
sessions.

Best Regards,

               Symposium on Software Performance
      Joint Kieker/Palladio Days 2013 (Community Meeting)

           November 27-29, 2013, Karlsruhe, Germany

           CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS AND PARTICIPATION

============================================================

SCOPE
=====

Performance is one of the most relevant quality attributes
of any IT system. While good performance leads to high user
satisfaction, weak response times lead to loss of users,
perceived unavailability of the system or unnecessarily high
costs of network or compute resources. Therefore, various
techniques to control and improve the performance of IT
systems have been developed, ranging from online monitoring
and benchmarking to modeling and prediction. Experience
shows, that for system design or later optimization, such
techniques need to be applied in smart combination.

Therefore, the "Symposium on Software Performance" brings
together researchers and practitioners interested in all
facets of software performance, ranging from monitoring to
modeling and prediction. The symposium is organized by two
already established user groups: for the first time, the
Kieker (http://kieker-monitoring.net) and the Palladio
(http://palladio-simulator.com) communities will have a
joint meeting in form of this symposium. Kieker is a well-
established tool and approach for monitoring software
performance of complex, large, and distributed IT systems.
Palladio is a likewise-established tool and approach for
modeling software architectures of IT systems and for
simulating their performance.

The symposium will include invited talks from practitioners
and researchers in the field of software performance,
including but not limited to approaches employing Kieker/
Palladio. In addition, we welcome contributions from the
field. Hence, this call for participation also acts as a
call for contributions to be presented at the symposium.

In general, we seek reports on applications and extensions
of Kieker/Palladio in academic, scientific, or industrial
contexts. Submission are thought for (but not limited to)
plans, ongoing work, or results on:

  * Application of Kieker or Palladio in projects
  * Wish lists of tool features
  * Combined applications of Kieker and Palladio
  * Case studies of bottleneck searches and resolutions
  * Software performance patterns and anti-patterns
  * Thoughts and experiences on the influence of the software
    architecture on software performance
  * Extraction and calibration of performance models
  * Performance in virtualized environments
  * Performance in trade-off with other quality attributes,
    e.g., security or reliability
  * Model-driven approaches for instrumentation and analysis

SUBMISSION DETAILS
==================

Submissions of extended abstracts should not exceed 5-10
pages in LNI single-column format. Submissions need to be
uploaded via the EasyChair conference system and will be
reviewed by members of the organizing board. Accepted papers
will be published in a volume of the CEUR Workshop
Proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org/). If non-original papers of
the authors are submitted here, a reference must denote to
the original publication and copyright concerns need to be
clarified by the authors.

Additional instructions for submissions are provided on the
symposium web site (http://www.kieker-palladio-days.org/).

Participants are also encouraged to submit proposals for
live demonstrations and tutorials of tools and approaches
related to Kieker/Palladio.
