[palladio-dev] Handling of legacy email addresses in Github profiles

Dear all,

this mail is only relevant if you are listed as contributor to the Palladio
code base on Github, i.e. your SVN user name has been mapped to a Github
user.

I just want to share some information about how to maintain the mapping of
your contributions to your Github profile. Github uses the email address
mentioned in the commit to map the commit to your Github profile. The
mapping uses all email addresses entered in Github (not only your main
address). If you delete an address, the corresponding mappings will be
deleted as well. This means your contributions are no longer mapped to your
profile.

To prevent this, please ensure that you always keep your history of emails
even if you leave the organization that your email address belongs to.
Github describes a way to handle this in a short manual [1].

Best regards

Stephan
